2nd Grade Earth Day Celebrations!
Wednesday at Penn ES, the 2nd graders celebrated Earth Day 2015 with classroom rotations of fun activities. With Mrs. Oles, the students planted flowers and talked about what they need to survive. Mrs. Lee took the students on a nature walk/scavenger hunt finding pine cones, flowers, tree bark, and maybe a squirrel or two! Ms. Draggoo collected items so the students could create a "trash to treasure" project, using recycled paper towel rolls, water bottles, cans and more. Mrs. Simpson had the students use recycled paper to create a hand print and then talked about how they can help the Earth. Mrs. Tabassum had the students drawing creative Earth Day themed scenes on the sidewalk. Students really used their nature smarts and background knowledge of the Earth and conservation while having fun and being creative. GO GREEN!
Check out our picture slide show of the event here.
